A former British soldier turned technologist, I half jokingly refer to myself a “cloud enabler and full stack aficionado”.
I’m currently a senior solutions architect at a global VAR, where I focus on creating innovative and agile infrastructure solutions for our customers across a multitude of verticals.
I’ve spent 15 years in IT (including a 4 year “tactical pause” in the British Army - where I did not do IT) doing the usual career progression from internal support to solutions architecture (via a dev role, consultancy, and a sysadmin role), and have spent the last 8 years or so specialising in storage and virtualisation. Today my primary interest and expertise revolves around storage, converged infrastructure, and cloud.
Over the past couple of years I have been recognised by VMware and Cisco as a #vExpert and #CiscoChampion for Datacenter, respectively, apparently because I make a lot of noise on Twitter, and in 2014 was asked by NetApp to join the NetApp advocacy program (#NetAppATeam). I personally relish the opportunities these platforms grant me to speak to a wider audience about the things that I am passionate about. Despite these vendor “alignments”, I have always considered myself vendor agnostic, with the kit being used secondary to the customers requirement.
If you want to get in touch with me you’re most likely to get a response on the Twitters (@mo6020).
Standard disclaimer around opinions being mine and not those of my employer, etc, etc…
