“A story: A man fires a rifle for many years, and he goes to war. And afterward he turns the rifle in at the armory, and he believes he’s finished with the rifle. But no matter what else he might do with his hands, love a woman, build a house, change his son’s diaper; his hands remember the rifle.”

A British soldier turned technologist, I now work for Google Cloud Security as an Adoption Engineer. We bring Google’s approach to SecOps to the wider world. It’s pretty cool, you should check us out.

I’ve spent over a decade in tech, not including a 6 year “tactical pause” in the British Army - where, in the famous words of Private Joker, I got to travel the world, meet interesting and stimulating people from ancient cultures, and then kill them.

I’ve done most gigs in the industry, from dev roles back in the day, to pre and post-sales consultancy, and most recently Product Management. Today my primary expertise revolves around cloud, infrastructure architecture and performance, and automation/orchestration.

In the past I’ve been on both the Cisco Champion (2015-2017) and VMware vExpert (2015-2019) advocacy programs, and I am an OG member of the NetApp A-Team.

Outside of work I like “functional fitness”, endurance events, and punk rock music. Come and find me at an event if you feel so inclined, I get around a bit. Mine’s a Red Stripe.

Standard disclaimer around opinions being mine and not those of my employer, etc, etc…
